Product Details

This Kapanuk was woven by Yomud Turkmen during the early 20th century in Turkmenistan.

A kapanuk is a rug meant to hang around the tent door. It features a main panel of meandering zoomorphic pinwheel devices and is framed by various borders of hashtags, rams horns, "x"s, and diamonds. Wonderfully embellished with woven moments of lustrous purply-pink silk and beautifully polychrome braided tassels and the inclusion of both wood and glass beads.

In very good condition, well cared for over its life with original fringes and tassels. Plush even pile, with a soft, floppy handle. A small amount of folk repair.
